Burglary

"One of the aim's of the burglary task group is to reduce the fear of burglary. The perception amongst people is that crime is on the increase but in reality the number of dwelling house burglaries across the Vale of
Glamorgan has been steadily falling over the past years and last year stood at just under 1 burglary per day. "

The burglary task group is a multi agency group and for 2007 /08 will be looking to develop a cold calling scheme

It's EASY when they know HOW Burglary - STOP it happening to YOU

in certain areas of Dinas Powys and Sully to deter unwanted tradesmen. A public awareness campaign will be key and there will be a week in the summer dedicated to home security with road shows planned for all areas of the Vale.

Last year many police community support officers were trained to conduct home surveys following a domestic burglary and in 2007/08 it is planned to train more officers and also partners working within the Safer Vale to provide this service and support.

The Safer Vale Partnership will also look to develop other initiatives to promote public awareness around burglary with the emphasis on prevention and detection.
