What does community mean?
Community means different things to different people.
It can mean:

• People living near each other
• Groups that have the same interest or hobby; or
• A nationality, such as being Welsh, English or Polish


What does Community Cohesion mean?
Community Cohesion means:

• How everyone in different areas live beside each other with respect and understanding of differences;

• Community life where everyone has a chance to take part;
• Where everyone gets equal use of services;
• Everyone valuing differences;
• Accepting and supporting each other
• Overcoming problems

Community Cohesion is what must happen in all communities to enable different groups of people to get on well together. A key contributor to community cohesion is integration which is what must happen to enable new residents and existing residents to adjust to one another.
