What to do if...


...you find a needle

1.         Keep yourself safe:

           * Don't touch it
           * Don't move it

2.         Keep others safe:

           * Don't hide it
           * Don't kick it out of sight
           * Don't put it in the bin

3.        Tell someone:

           * Vale of Glamorgan Council

...you get pricked by a needle

If you get pricked with a needle encourage the wound to bleed and wash it with soap and warm water immediately. Contact your doctor, local casualty department or GUM clinic.

...you decide to dispose of a needle yourself (at    your own risk)

* Handle the syringe with caution, avoiding the needle.

* Carfully put it into a drinks container or suitable continer, sharp end first.  

* Wash your hand thoroughly.

...you find illegal drugs

Telephone your local Police Staion on (01656) 655 555 and inform them that you may have found illegal drugs and take them straight to your local Police Station.

If you fail to inform the Police as soon as you find the illegal drugs and proceed to the Police Station to hand them in, whilst they are in your possession you are at risk of being arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
